Charlie King and Karen Brandow are musical storytellers and political satirists. Their repertoire covers a century and a half and four continents. They perform with the sweet and precise harmonies of life partners. In December 2010 they released their latest CD, THE DISTANCE REMAINING. Other recent releases include: HIGHER GROUND, ON THE JOURNEY, PUPPET TOWN and REMEMBERING SACCO & VANZETTI: A LIVE PERFORMANCE. Their 2001 Appleseed Recording, I STRUCK GOLD, won rave reviews and extensive radio airplay.

Charlie King has been at the heart of American folk music for over 35 years. His songs have been recorded and sung by other performers such as Pete Seeger, Holly Near, Ronnie Gilbert, John McCutcheon, Arlo Guthrie, and Peggy Seeger. Honors include an "Indie" award for one of the top three folk recordings of 1984. In May of 1998 the War Resisters League gave their Peacemaker Award to Charlie and to Odetta. Pete Seeger nominated Charlie for the Sacco-Vanzetti Social Justice Award, which he received in November, 1999. Charlie has released a dozen solo albums since 1976, three albums with the touring ensemble Bright Morning Star, and numerous compilation albums with other artists.

Karen Brandow has been performing with Charlie King since 1998. While doing human rights work in Guatemala from 1986-1994, she studied voice, guitar and performance, singing at numerous political/cultural events in that country. She broadened her repertoire to include Latin American music of the "Nueva Canción" or New Song Movement, performing in both English and Spanish.

In addition to a full-time career of concert touring, Charlie and Karen have sung in support of numerous groups working for peace, human rights, environmental sanity and alternatives to violence. They are available for:

Concerts: A two hour daytime or evening event for your community to raise voices, spirits and funds. They assist concert organizers in the process of putting together a successful event.

Workshops: They have a variety of interactive musical/dramatic workshops available (see www.charleking.org for details) and they can tailor a workshop for your specific needs. Their most requested workshops are about social movement history through music, and about the lives and death of Sacco and Vanzetti. Workshops are best suited for high school and college audiences, as well as community groups.

Demonstrations, rallies, picket lines: They are happy to sing for peace and justice causes when it fits into their touring schedule.
